Joy Lynn White has acres of up front reckless audacity in her voice, which at times she assuages with a vulnerability that doesn’t allow room for weakness. The band is flaming hot behind her, helping push the songs, which right away makes for a strong foundation from which to launch this disc. When you combine this with the strength of songs selected here, she co-wrote 9 of the 11, you are creating a recipe to launch her far beyond the next level. She is fragile and commanding at the same moment, and she sings with a control that in no way infringes upon her wild streak of abandonment. There is an honesty in the songs that says she has also lived them, and sings them from that part of her heart that can’t hide. This is someone who has put together a disc that must give her the power to do more, and shows why she is so highly considered in Nashville as a songwriter. These tunes which I guess would be classified in that genre known as Alt

Country/Americana, owes as much to Southern Rock as to any other form, however they are really just good powerful music that is sung with a believability that drives that takes them and moves them past all clichés into real life. There is no limit shown here to the talent this woman shows, vocally, as a performer, or as a song-writer, she is set to go with this disc. One of the 2 or 3 best discs to come along this year.
