The voice is stronger and much more self-assured than I remember, but the strong, poignant song writing and wonderful way of having the rhythm of the song fit the lyric content is still there. This is a powerful disc by a woman who is confidant, without being pushy; strong, without being strident; and clear, without being preachy. It is an album that I have waited a long time to hear. It shows the depths and range of this woman who, for all I knew, retired when the marriage with Ian Tyson dissolved. There is a wide range of material presented here, all springing from her roots in the folk/country vein. Yet the material ranges from straight folk music, YOU WERE ON MY MIND, to the country honky tonk of SLEEP ON MY SHOULDER, to the get up and dance Cajun tinged LE MOULIN A PEPERE. There is a strong story line in each of the songs, all but one of which were either written or co-written by her. The band is tight and follows all the mood changes as one with her. A real treat.
