This North London, England young man is bringing his second CD to American shores to capture our ears and hearts, and there is a good possibility he may be able to do so. He is a musician that is influenced by the blues, and by a diverse group of artists as wide ranging as John Martyn, JJ Cale and Rainer Ptacek, the very eclectic Tucson, Arizona musician who did a lot of experimenting with tape looping and distortion, all of these and more can be heard in his music. He takes these influences in and filters them through the Sean Taylor that grew up in North London. He sings in a whispery voice that has a medium grit to it and he does his songs well with it. His guitar playing is mostly acoustic and without going to loud flashy playing is very effective and provides a strong foundation for the

songs. He wrote all of the songs on the disc but for two; Skip James’ “Hard Time Killing Floor Blues,” and it is an original version of a song that is iconic, and a traditional song associated with Ritchie Havens, “Freedom.” He also plays all the instruments (guitars, keyboards, percussion, harmonica), except for trumpet on the seventh cut, and plays with a flair and style that belie his youth. There is a lot of potential here from a very original new voice. I look forward to what will come next, or to possibly hear him with a band behind him to push him.
