The unexpected is the only thing that can be expected from Otis Taylor, and that is an excellent trait from this roots/bluesman. He is known for his lyrics that are an unvarnished presenting of the truth in a very raw form. His presentation of what is basically blues sometimes uses ‘odd’ instrumentation such as the cello and the banjo. Most importantly his music ensnares the listener with its twists and turns, his blending and bending of different styles and genres. He blends traditional blues form with a raw and almost prehistoric feeling that cuts to the bone, with a spacious of the country, and the trance sound that almost becomes psychedelic. He wrote all 10 of the songs on this disc with the exception of “Working for The

Pullman Company,” which was written by Cassie Taylor and Otis Taylor. Cassie Taylor, his daughter, plays bass throughout the disc and also provides the female vocals, singing lead on the song she co-wrote with her dad. Please don’t miss this new disc form this most eclectic bluesman it is startling.
