The ubiquitous good news bad news syndrome; bad news first this only clocks in at 31+ minutes so let’s call it an EP; after that all the news is not only good, but stunning, and maybe a groundbreaking benchmark to reach for. Give a listen to the sinuous/ sensuous harmonies they affect on the opening cut “Nothing Mysterious”. This is a song you don’t want to end because of the lithe and beautiful blending of the voices on a stunning song that was written by Charlie and a friend a bit ago. This disc only builds from that point, with each next song laying a new foundation for more new ground to explore, new places to go, and different crannies to poke into and see what will emerge; and then how it can be developed into something even more aurally dazzling. It feels as if this blending of two

outstanding talents into a whole that is greater than the combination, is one of those amalgamations that was meant to be to enrich our lives, that doesn’t come along but once in a blue moon. These songs were not written by the duo for this disc, rather some were written by one or the other of them and also some other very fine songwriters such as Jesse Winchester and Townes Van Zandt. The energy generated is from Charlie and Shannon and what they fashion and produce when working together with material that feels as if it was written especially for this duo. It is one of those discs that though short in running time is exceedingly long in quality pleasure time.
