This is a disc to get up and dance to; it is old school Zydeco (think Clifton Chenier) and played by brothers who at the time were 11 through 17 (their father joined them on 2 cuts). When you realize the disc was recorded in 1979, when Leon Sam the lead singer was just 15, you marvel at the maturity in his voice. These guys are good and they sure can play their instruments. Don’t let their age fool you, or give you misconceptions, they grew up in the music and it is their heritage.
When they do their blues based Zydeco music it is real and when people say they haven’t lived long enough to feel the blues don’t listen to the nay sayers, feel the music these boys play. They know what they are talking about and this real emotion is contained in every note they play.
