October 12th will mark Rosehill’s initial release, this country/roots music duo’s debut disc is produced by Radney Foster and Jay Clementi; another pair of Texans that this twosome has gotten to join their cause.  Mitch McBain and Blake Myers, who gained experience on the road with the band High Life, are the founding and sole members of this band, and they hail from, and have returned to, Cypress, Texas.  The songwriting on this disc is an interesting mix, mostly of Myers and McBain combined with Foster and Clementi and a few others in various combinations.  There is the dust and sand and whatever else is carried in the winds that roam this wide-open country mixed in with the lyrics, giving it the rough edges that ring of truth.
 
For this initial disc they have enlisted the help of a couple of bands that are both tight and adventuresome, and capable of taking the music and making it an exciting part of the experience, breaking away from that modern Nashville sound which is so polished that it tends to become sterile. The two different bands pretty much divide up the 11 songs; both bands are anchored by some outstanding pedal steel guitar work by Steve Fishell.  There is no indication as to who sings leads on the songs, however their harmonies are very tight   The songs tend to stay in the traditional realm of country music; whiskey, dreams and aspirations, and love but sometimes their takes are different enough to make the listener perk up his ears, sign of a good song.  An interesting group that has a lot going for it, be interesting to see where they take this.
