This, Texas born, Phoenix based, Blues shouter finally has his first national release after honing his craft and sitting in with the likes of; T-Bone Walker, Big Joe Turner, Bobby Blue Bland and his cousin W.C. Clark, for about 50 years. Big Pete is a throwback to the old style gravelly voiced Blues shouters of the post war era and his voice is capable of setting off seismic detectors in the far corners. He is backed on this earth-shaking debut very ably by the Rhythm Room All Stars and the effort is produced by their leader and harmonica player, Bob Corritore, and augmented by a number of big names who came in to lend their support. People like Kid Ramos, W.C. Clark, and Ike Turner on guitars, and Chico Chism on drums contribute but leave no doubt that this is Big Pete’s show. This 12-song effort is improved by the addition of 6 songs that were written by Pete Pearson including the instant classic “Big Legged Woman”, which is propelled by some of the exotic guitar work by Ike Turner. This disc is one of those that won’t come out of your changer easily.
