This singer/songwriter calls Austin, Texas his home now after living and working in NYC for a large number of years. He has enlisted some of Austin’s best musicians for this combination CD and DVD; the CD would not play in my computer, it did play in the car and the stereo system, though the DVD played on the computer. His songs have a very theatrical feel to them, and his music has been used by a number of television shows. Sometimes this is a very good as there is great emotion in the songs, however there are times, “Old Friend,” where it goes overboard to the point of sappy and is just a repetitive repeating of the phrase “Old Friend” with no story line. Might do well in a melodramatic situation, however as a song standing on its own it leaves much to be desired. Most are much better than this but this one is so jarring and redundant that it stands out. Most of the songs are more mid tempo and soft songs until we get to the rave up, “Nobody Loves Me Like You Do.” This song lets members of his band and some of the guests really cut loose and shine. Redd Volkaert treat us to some wonderful guitar work and then there is Cindy Cashdollar on the lap steel. This is also the up-tempo highlight of the disc and the least theatrical of his songs.

The CC and DVD repeat much of the same material. He has a very good voice and the band with him is very good. A bit theatrical in feel for this reviewers taste. I sure hope the cover on the disc I got was an advance and the buying public gets something much more substantial, this one was tearing apart after just a few handlings.
