A smokey and earthy voice one of the first things you are going to notice when this new disc, her third, starts to play; a very tight band is behind her, and then the meaning of the lyrics begin to take hold. She is an astute observer of people and their foibles and embeds those details with all their nuances into the story, and they sell the story. The stories are wonderful short movies packed with those intangibles and minutiae that move the story line from good to hauntingly memorable, from I’ve seen that before to the vignette that remains cemented onto a crystal of time in the mind. Her voice at times with its warm sensuality belies the darker sides she sometimes is portraying as on “Echo Lake”.
On this disc she co-produces with Jay Bellerose, who also is solid on drums and percussion on all

but one cut. Eric Heywood contributes some tasty licks on pedal steel, electric and acoustic guitar and Jennifer Condos who plays some very slinky bass. Kristin plays acoustic guitar and handles the vocals, and she also holds her own on electric guitar. She wrote all of the songs except the Burt Bacharach & Hal David classic, “I Say A Little Prayer”. She has attracted good players with her craft and skill and the results are very evident here. She is someone to be reckoned with as this is a very strong disc in many ways.
