This veteran of the blues scene, he first recorded on the legendary Sun Records of Sam Phillips in the 1950s, has continually been known as some one unafraid to take a risk, an explorer. He has never been afraid of introducing all of his musical influences into his music; the seemingly disparate elements of gospel, R & B, country, soul and whatever else came to his attention. We see here that that the years have not dulled his keen edge. He is still an innovator. Listen to the beautiful blues guitar runs he puts together in, “The Blues Is My Companion,” and then the swampy blues of “Next To You.”

All the years have honed his stylings and made him even more diverse without scattering his focus. A disc that seems to grow and become stronger with listenings.
