The Mighty Wonders

Live! In Spirit and In Truth

HL - 1001
maybe on dusty groove
another tough one to find

The joy, pain, and hope that ran in those wonderful gospel services you used to hear walking down the streets of Harlem when you were a kid are alive here.  That is one of the great strengths of this CD.  It also leads to one of it's weaknesses, not enough of the interaction with the crowd is heard, and lets be honest the crowd at a gospel service can boost any performance, but most especially when they start testifying.  The Mighty Wonders are an immensely talented group and this disk should bring them national recognition.  Their voices ring with the conviction and passion of their beliefs.  At one point during their TRIBUTE TO GOSPEL (the only song not written by them), thought it was Sam Cooke and The Soul Stirrers singing ( don't know that a higer compliment can be paid to a gospel group).  Just listen to them let it all go on both TRIBUTE TO REPRISE and SAFETY ZONE.  My horses were jumpin with the sound.  This group from Winston-Salem is going to be heard from and hopefully seen.  I'd jump at the chance to see this brand of excitement.
