This disc is the work of singer songwriter Bill Kelly who wrote or co-wrote all the songs on the disc.  There is a smooth, quiet, confident feel to the disc that makes it a pleasant relief from the hubbub of the world.  It acts as a harbor from the storms that are raging outside the inlet that protects it from the ferocity of the winds that are trying to snatch away breath and anything not held in place.  His delivery, as much as the content/subject matter of the songs is what gives them that feel.  It is a disc that gives one a bit of respite from the savagery of the network television coverage of what they consider the news; sometimes it touches on the same subjects however it doesn’t try to sensationalize what is happening or to look at the dark side of it in a more sensible or sensitive way.  This said what might think dull and/or quiet but that is definitely not the case here.

Whether we owe that to Mr. Kelly or Lincoln Schleifer, the producer of the disc, I am not sure, however there is an excellent cast of musicians to help compliment the music that Kelly has chosen for the disc.  Bill Kelly handles the vocals, background vocals, acoustic guitar and mandola.  There are too many others to list them all here but there is also some outstanding work done by Larry Campbell on pedal steel, electric guitar, mandolin, fiddle, dobro, and baritone guitar, Danny Louis on Hammond B-3, and Denny McDermott on drums and percussion, there are no slackers but these rise to the occasion and shine.
