This is the second disc by this acclaimed songwriter, Johnny Cash, Bonnie Raitt, and Trisha Yearwood have recorded her songs, and she definitely doesn’t suffer from a sophomore jinx. Her band is solid behind her on this effort and backing vocals are provided on numerous cuts by the likes of Bonnie Raitt, Jackson Browne, Julie Miller, and Rodney Crowell which is strong testament to the high regard these singer/songwriters have for her songs. The words weave a good story and the tunes themselves seem like simple and uncomplicated melodies that draw the listener in to the words and involve
them. They are intimate, honest and personal without being singular. They are vignettes that can be universally related to, and they are all penned by her. There is a combination of mystery and accessibility to her music that will open up new horizons to those willing to listen.
