Colin James

Colin James and The Little Big Band

CAP 39190
available on amazon

This is James' third album, and the first to truly earn him some well deserved honors. He establishes himself as a master of big band rhythm and blues, in all its full widely varied traditions. From the ballads, to the boogies, bringing in the sound of jazz, to the low down dirty blues, James elevates himself into a force to be reckoned with when guitars and blues are put in the same sentence. This album demonstrates his diversity, and in this diversity he is carving out a niche that is all his own. He is helped here by Reese Wynans, from Stevie Ray Vaughan's band, Chuck Leavell from the Stones and Allman Bros., and the Roomful of Blues Horn section. The musicians here support and lay the groundwork for the tune and all the soloists. This CD has influences that go from Django Reinhardt to Roy Brown to Bob Wills. Just put it on, turn it up, and let the good times wash over you. Try to keep a smile off your face when TRAIN KEPT A ROLLIN' comes on, and the personal favorite of the whole house, CHA SHOOKY DOO.
