Magnificent intricate anticipatory harmony vocals that only come from years of singing together, enhanced by the fact that they are made by Paul, Michelle, and Suzanne Campagne, 2 sisters and a brother. Each voice a distinct entity, Paul's is like a fine smooth blended scotch, Michelle's soaring and swooping as a bird in flight, and Suzanne's rich sensual, and with the quality of a good smoking cigar. However this is not all there is to this roots music disc, these voices are backed by some stellar instrumentation and augmented by the heart felt arrangements. At times you feel the high prairie winds of their home in Willow Bunch Saskatchewan whipping the song along, other times you feel the swamps of Louisiana and the pride of the Cajun family carrying this group. (They do an hauntingly beautiful version of Zachary Richard and Brian Stolz SUNSET ON LOUISIANNE) Their music is a reflection and distillation of all that this group has been seen in its musical odyssey. The songs are sung in both French and English, again reflecting the polarity of growing up in one of the only French speaking communities in western Canada.
This disc has never ceased to surprise and amaze me with each repeated playing, I have a very hard time getting other discs on to listen and review because I keep being drawn back to the beauty and comprehensive diversity of this one.
