Barry Goldberg with Mike Bloomfield

Two Jews Blues

One Way Records
maybe on amazon

This is one of those late 60's collaborations where expectation is elevated to the ridiculous point that the world should explode when this disc is put on, and then there is disappointment when it didn't.  However when you get past looking at players in the band, and listen to the music there are a number of wonderful cuts. BLUES FOR BARRY AND... is Bloomfield at his best with a solid band behind him cranking out this slow blues you wish wouldn't end.  Barry Goldberg has always played a solid organ, whether with Harvey Mandel, Charlie Musselwhite, or out on his own and here he steps to the forefront and leads this all-star cast with Mike Bloomfield.  One of the regrets with this disc  is that they never put all the players, especially the guitar players together for a cut or two, they never get to play off one another.  Think of the possibilities of having Harvey Mandel, Mike Bloomfield, and Duane Allman together on a cut or two and some kind of guitar heaven is possible. The hype on this with this type of personnel was off the charts, which is a shame because it is a good solid disc, expectations were too high and possibilities unlimited (isn’t hindsight wonderful, probably unlimited budgets would have helped too).
