This is Zydeco music as it is meant to be played.  It is alive and jumping, getting you out on the dance floor.  I'd sure love to see this band in person, I bet they'd be just a fun bunch.  Thomas Fields is talking to the band members all of the time, with shouts such as "et toi" (and you) and "hey Geneva" (Geneva being his wife).   He certainly won't win any awards for some of his lyrics, but how many of you understand Cajun French anyway?  It is the feel and heart of the song that matters to the band.  There are some exemptions to this rule and fortunately these songs are in English.  BALD HEADED MEN  is a great example of his sense of humor, talking about how bald-headed men steal away the women, so those of us that are follically challenged have an anthem.  His music, I have a feeling, reflects a devil may care fun loving nature.  A man you would sure enough sit down and drink a beer with and enjoy the time spent.  This man didn't pick up an accordion until he could be considered no longer a child prodigy (48 I hear), then taught his wife to play bass so he had the nucleus for his band.  They may not be the most innovative band, nor the best on their instruments yet, don't get me wrong they are good!, but they damn sure reflect the heart and soul of a bright and happy future for traditional Zydeco.  They play with a heart, a passion, and a joy that makes up for a lot of short comings.  When you realize he has only been playing for 5 years, think of when he matches his enthusiasm with technical skill.  This is a band to hear now and watch for in the future.  I for one sure want to hear the next one from this band.
