On this second disc from this Canadian songstress, she sounds much more confidant and sure of what she is doing than on her first disc. Maybe part of it is that she has her touring band in the studio with her, as well as a few friends, such as keyboardists Richard Bell (The Band), Benmont Tench (Tom Petty’s Heartbreakers), and Pierre Marchand (Sarah McLachian) to augment the sound. There is a very strong presence of Lucinda Williams, who Ms Edwards sounds like, as a singer, as a writer, and as a stylist. It is at times too much Williams and not

enough Edwards. She has plenty of voice and ability as a writer and it would be wonderful if she would leave the influence (good though it may be) behind and let more of her own self come through.
