This is his second CD, the first was called “3D,” and his playing has grown with the 2 years of constantly touring the world and with the players he has selected for this venture on his own Red Shoe Records. This genre twisting, reshaping fiddle player has thrown aside the rules with Matt Chamberlain (drums, percussion, electronic mangulation {I have no idea what it is either}, and fiddlesticks), Viktor Krauss ) basses, Darrell Scott (electric guitars and pedal steel guitar), and Fognode (lap steel, synth, and field recordings) along with Jason Lehning (co-producer and engineer) to help him shape the constant touring and traveling around the world into a semblance of order to his universe.
The listener is gong to hear bits of bluegrass, jazz, Indian Music, Chinese Music, and influences as diverse as Vassar Clements, Bela Fleck, Jimi
Hendrix, and Leftover Salmon in his playing. Yet none of it stands separated, but is all blended into the whole just as in a good gumbo the individual elements blend beautifully to produce something greater than their individual merits. When you look at those that participated in the making of this disc you get your first clue that it is not going to be something ordinary, as each is known not only as an outstanding player but also a musician who is willing to take the big risks, break rules and have no regrets about taking the chance and hanging over the abyss with just a thread for a safety line.
