This is one portion of a set of recordings Steve Dawson put together a band to record, both being released this year.  Because this group of songs are more in traditional song format, appropriate for either solo or full band presentation, they are grouped together as “Waiting For…”; the others are more soundscapes particularly featuring the pedal steel guitar, he split that group of songs into its own release, “Telescopes”.   Mr. Dawson is known in Canada as producer and singer but his most notable acclaim is as a wizard with stringed instruments, from guitar, to resonator guitar, to weissenborns non-resonator acoustic lap steel guitar, to ukulele, tremolo guitar, etc.  He is sadly a Canadian that is not known in this country and yet his music fits right into that big mixing bowl we call Roots or Americana music.  His music has tendrils that go into the folk, rock, gospel, blues

and jazz traditions.  He is one of those people who are suddenly going to ‘burst onto the scene’ in a bit of time.

This group of accomplices are all accomplished musicians and stick with him whatever the genre, no matter the changes.  Who is playing varies depending on what the song demands, however there is a unity of feel here that can not be ignored.  There are 12 songs that give you approximately 63 minutes of solid music and he wrote all but 5 of them so we may even add songwriter to his accolades.  Stretch yourself a bit and head into the land North of the Border.
