This band is Zydeco with a very strong root in the Rhythm & Blues world. They have been around the area of Lafayette, Louisiana for years. At one time formed the nucleus of Fernest & the Thunders, and when Fernest Arceneaux could no longer play due to a hip injury, Chester Chevalier and Clarence "Jockey" Etienne formed the Creole Zydeco Farmers from the remains of that band. These men have been through many years in the music business, Etienne was with Excello Records in its heyday. They are a tight band that has proven themselves by playing extensively all through the Texas and Louisiana area, as well as in Canada and Europe. Their songs have lyrics, which contain a story line, which places them a cut above the new Zydeco that doesn’t go much past shouted, “Et Toi”. They take songs by such artists as Otis Redding (an excellent and interesting version of “These Arms of Mine”, Harold Logan and Dee Clark and give them a strong Zydeco beat and rework the lyrics and bring forth some fine dance music that tells a tale. Their 2 vocalists have strong voices that get the job done. They are not breaking new ground but they are a fine good time band that is bound to get you up and dancing to their infectious style of Zydeco.
