This disc takes the long rich tradition of Irish music into modern times without sacrificing any integrity. This is a rollicking musical journey with this remarkable Irish band and its extended list of visiting friends. There is a joy and love of music that pervades this disc and shines through these 13 songs. Try to keep a smile off your face while they rip into FERNY HILL, and feel the infectious joy and love of playing in the rave up THE ROCKY ROAD TO DUBLIN with the Rolling Stones. One highlight is the smoke cured, whiskey aged voice of Marianne Faithfull guiding us through the anguish of love in LOVE IS TEASIN'. The disc leads off with a wonderful rendition of MO GHILE MEAR -"OUR HERO as sung by Sting, and touches all the extremes of Irish music. Constant was the surprise and amazement at how much I enjoy their version of THE TENNESSEE WALTZ/TENNESSEE MAZURKA, sung by Tom Jones. Van Morrison's collaboration on HAVE I TOLD YOU LATELY THAT I LOVE YOU. shows all the players off to their maximum advantage, a perfect blending of tradition and modernity. This disc was a leap of faith and could only be pulled off with the strong hands of Paddy Moloney taking charge of the musical direction.
