Hopefully this disc will break the writer of such songs as “Walking To New Orleans”, “See You Later Alligator”, “I Can’t Quit You”, and an all time favorite THE JEALOUS KIND from being known only as a songwriter. He is a writer of superb talent and is extremely versatile in the different genres of songs he writes. On this disc he has the R&B smash for Delbert McClinton, , “I Can’t Quit You” the way south of the border, ”Angel Eyes”, the 'loungey' (in the best sense) “But I Do”, and the second line/soul of “Oarty Town”, standing out. To bring out the best of these songs he has received the support of a stellar cast of players from New Orleans (and beyond), that treat the songs with the respect that their writer deserves. Without the songs this icon has written we would all be the poorer. After all it is the soul of the songs that give the impel those performing them to aspire to ever greater heights. There are no mediocre songs on this disc, some may not be to your taste, but give them a second chance and feel the difference between the quality of the song that is well crafted and performed with the care the musicians feel for it, that you might not have cared for, and a song you don't care for because it is a rush job. There is also a 'bonus' at the end of the disc after a 2 minute pause. A better than average interview that is about 15 minutes. It is nice the first time you hear it but it is a pain when it comes up on the shuffle mode. There are a couple of new songs here that I think are going to join the ranks of the "Bobby Charles Classics". They are “You”, and “I Don’t Want To Know”.
