Just looking at the pedigree, harp wizard Carey Bell is his father, would make you stop and give a listen and when the first notes from his guitar come slashing through the speakers on the title cut, you decide to settle in for a bit of listening pleasure. He grew up with the big names of the Chicago blues scene stopping by to rehearse and just jam, so this is the music that has always been surrounding him. He has had his share of troubles and down and out times; including a fair stretch when he was homeless and recovering from a bout of mental illness thus he has lived his music.

As the title of the album states these songs are mostly about love and its positive effects as opposed to dwelling on the hurt and pain he has experienced. These are songs by such as Willie Dixon, Richard Penniman (Little Richard), J.B.Lenoir, and Roebuck “Pops” Staples. This latter songs is just one of those overlooked gems this often overlooked songwriter has written. It is a disc that shows the positive side of this man and hopefully a harbinger of the good to follow.
