This is Missy Andersen’s first release and though it is only 8 songs, just shy of 33 minutes it is hopefully a harbinger of treasures to come down the path of time.  She certainly has a strong and emotionally expressive voice.  The music slips easily between R & B, with some old school Soul and Gospel thrown in for added enjoyment.  Of the eight songs, six are covers and two are her originals, and arguably those two, “New Feet” and Stand Up and Dance”, are her strongest songs.  She was born in Detroit, Michigan and raised in Queens, New York, she started singing when she was 6 and just hasn’t stopped.  The majority of the inspiration for her singing came from her parents’ love of music and eclectic record collection; Gladys Knight Aretha Franklin, James Brown and The Staple Singers.

She started singing in earnest when she moved to San Diego, California and met up with Earl Thomas and became one of the Juke Joint Jezebelles, who provided gospel, blues and soul backup for Earl’s stage show.   She sang in a few other bands and the decided to go her own way, and formed a band with her husband, bandleader Heine Andersen (guitar), Asmus Jensen (drums0, Jeppe Juul (organ) and Soren Bojgaard (bass).  This band is solid behind her and seems to a feel for the music and what she wants to do with it and this will translate to stronger and more far reaching discs in the future.
